Re: [cancercured] Re: Cancer Caused by New Kind of Gene

Yes! Sure! Of course!

You are right Few cancers have genetic relationships like I said, and certain bc's of course,  but not all breast cancer daughters get their mother's breast cancer, and still carry similar genetic changes, that's all,...this means there is a predisposition that is nebulous, not yet defined not readily identified and that the gene itself cannot be proven to be the cause of cancer.
 That's all I am saying.

Is it a protein, is it an immune deficiency, is it metabolic,....please let's don't scare all the daughters out there who's Mother's have BC,...they are all not going to get it. Doesn't mean that the gene causes cancer,....that's all I'm trying to say.

The same is true for many diseases not just cancers.

Just one quick note!  If toxins cause cancer, and if your water, foundation, plyboards, or nearby factory have a carcinogistic affect upon nearby residents, can more than one person in the family get the same cancer? Sure!

So, what the heck is the genetic predisposition?  Nobody knows and it frustrates me that people call these few genes, as "cancer genes."

So, when talking genetics and cancer, the issue is not yet clearly defined no matter how many people tell you that you have a dreaded cancer gene it doesn't mean you will ever get cancer!

Bret,

Children ARE getting our cancers. With BRCA carriers, the cancer is
starting earlier and earlier. For instance, the grandmother had breast
cancer when she was 40-something. Then the mother develops breast
cancer when she is 30-something. And then the women/child is developing
breast cancer while in her 20s. It is alarming and scary. I know many
BRCA positive women and they are terrified for their children.

The gene mutation can skip a generation or two as well. I believe a
BRCA carrier has something like an 80% chance of developing cancer.

My cousin carries both BRCA genes. Her mother and her sister died young
of ovarian and breast cancer. Many years ago, she had prophylactice
bilaterian mastectomies and had her ovaries removed. Oddly enough, the
genes come from a side of the family not related to me. I do not have
BRCA but I developed breast cancer at age 42.

Still, breast cancer Mothers have daughters that never get breast
cancer.
