Re: [cancercured] Re: wheat grass powder

Cathy:

I am on a low-sugar diet. The only fruits allowed are lemons, limes, tomatoes, avocado and virgin coconut. I was advised to not eat ANY sugar, but sugar is in tomatoes, lemons and limes. I have to have some. I am on the Robert O. Young/Gabriel Cousens diets which are extremely difficult to follow. Here is basically all you can have and it is 100% raw. I am using recipes from both authors' books, "Rainbow Green-Live Cuisine" and "Ph Miracle Diet." I have adapted other recipes to keep sugar-free (tomatoes and even lemons and limes have some sugar in them, but very little). As you can see, this is a VERY strict diet. Without the recipes, I wouldn't be able to follow this. I am eating higher fat then I want to, but without the sugar-fruits, I wouldn't be able to get enough calories to sustain my weight. Also, no sprouted grains for the first three months. Cousens advices 100% raw for life, with a 80% raw/20% cooked to transition. Young believes after initial
akalazing and cleansing, that you can maintain health on the 80/20 protocol.

Is anyone else eating this strict on this website and if so what are you eating? Are most people not eating fruit of any kind? Are you eating grains, which have starch which converts to sugar? I have to admit I am struggling. I had a whole virgin coconut today, which is supposed to be cancer-fighting, but Cousens doesn't allow it on his plan during the first 90 days because he believes it is too high sugar initially before you get the internal environment cleaned up, but yet the man he adapted his diet from, Robert O. Young, does allow it during the first 90 days. Could anyone else live and keep to this diet out there? I am interested in what others eat, especially those with Stage IV cancers.

These are the allowed foods for the first three months on Cousens/Young's plans. After three months on Cousen's Phase I plan, you then go to Phase 1.5 and can add berries, carrots, cherries, cranberries, grapefruit, non-stored grains (sprouted and raw), fermented foods and he now allows the addition of coconut water.  Young never allows fermented foods and very little fruit. Cousens allows eventually oranges, apples, peaches, pears, plums, pomegrantes and blackberries in moderation and diluted orange and/or grapefruit juice.

Allowed foods for the first 90 days:

*Nuts and seeds
*Any non-starchy raw vegatables (no beets or carrots)
*Vegetable fruits such as Avocados, tomatoes, cucumbers, summer squashes, red bell pepper
*Lemon and Lime
*Sea vegetables
*Hemp, olive or coconut oils
*Coconut pulp (Cousens allows only this on his Phase I diet)
*Coconut water (Young allows this on his diet)
*Chlorella and spirulina (Young does not allow, but Cousens does)
*Klamath Lake Algae
*Legumes (raw sprouted)
*Stevia (Young allows Slimsweet which doesn't have the aftertaste)

I blend my greens daily. Usually 1/2 head romaine, spinach, or kale, with either a pear or apple or some berries in it (no bananas). I add 1 heaping tablespoon of my Vitamineral Green to this mix. No hassles of juicing and I use the whole plant and get the good pulp. I aim for a quart a day. At least 1/2 quart.

When in a rush I add my Vitamineral Green or Richard Schultz Superfood to unsweetened apple sauce. Quick, easy, great for you. It's very dark green, but so good...

I'm the same way with wheatgrass. Nauseates me. You can add your wheatgrass to the above drink I mentioned or any other juice. I've gotten around the nauseation by adding distilled water, a pinch or more of sea salt, a squeeze of lemon, and maybe a dash of cayenne. Less nauseation and it's awesome for you.
