[cancercured] Re: Essiac/Floressence

Ar,

So...should we with Breast Cancer abstain from Floressence & Essiac? Or do you know if all their tests are trustworthy? Do tests in mice bode the same as in humans? I was going to go out and get some Essiac. Do you or did you work in the health industry, you must have to interpret that.

  1. With regards to the study Arlyn is quoting, I would be very careful in reading too much into it - cell studies and rat studies are not representative of how people use herbs. If you take a rat from birth and feed it nothing but high amounts of herbs it isn't surprising if their health is poor. The cell study mentioned also found that higher concentrations actually reduced cancer cell growth but this isn't mentioned in the abstract/summary, you have to read the full study. In any case, there is a massive amount of misunderstanding and misinformation with regards to herbs and FlorEssence specifically that you can find online. Don't jump to conclusions based on research summaries - unless you can read the full study critically, I would take the abstracts with a grain of salt. Better yet, talk to a naturopath or herbalist more familiar with the herbs and research - it's better than finding random snippets of info online and trying to come to a conclusion based on that.
