Hi Nancy -
I blend everything for less than 30 seconds total in my Vitamix. When I was first diagnosed 3 years ago I went strict raw, then back to small amounts of animal protein, then raw some cooked, etc. The amount of stress and worry with things like whether my juicer was doing enough, or not, and whether I had 100% organic, or taking the right supplements, or detoxing enough was hurting me more in the long run. Everything became a fight followed by a fear.
I use to not eat any fruit - now i only eat apples, berries or an occasional pear. After my MRIs and bloodwork got considerably better, I stayed the course but also made life simple for myself.
I sprout when I can, buy them other times and eat them out of the bag. I grab something fast when I can like my greens in applesauce. I eat smaller meals. I consume greens whenever and however I can.
I like Gabriel's books more than others, but I don't follow any of them as gospel, just guidance.
I realized at one point that the daily stress of trying to keep up with a ton of healing modalities and eating perfectly and pounding a ton of supplements was hurting me terribly. Frustration and anger at having to live this way was taking me away from living my life.
For myself, I've followed the simple rule of whatever keeps me in a place of peace (including what I eat) I must continue to do. Anytime I stray from this it has caused stress which hurts the body.
I have done many of the same things a recent poster named Pat has. When I feel fear replacing love and joy and living, I consume everything possible in my library of books and movies, I pray, get out in nature, and remind myself that dying isn't the worst thing that can happen, not living when I'm here is. This may not serve all, but it's served me well.
I guess what I'm trying to say is follow a food protocol as best you can, but don't beat on yourself for it. Make it as easy and effective as possible for yourself.
cathy
