Re: [cancercured] Re: national healthcare? see how it is in canada ("the model" for the proposed system)

KC:

I won't be paying the high premiums much longer. I found a way to get FREE health insurance finally. I have liked my private insurance, as it allowed me the freedom to not be tied down to a job I hated just to have health insurance. But now I am tied down to the insurance premium, having to work two jobs to cover it.

My Free insurance? I will have to work only 20 hours a week and the State of Oregon will pay for my insurance caring for medically fragile Medicare clients. See, the group plans are cheaper--the insurers cater to the businesses, but individuals like myself are expected to pay for any little tax or increase laid on the hospitals/insurers. They could care crap about us because we don't have lobbyists behind us. I knew about this program, but the pay is lousy. I will still need to work another job in order to make this happen, but at least I don't have to spend $900- $1,000 a month for health premiums, co-pays for doctor visits, labs and X-rays ($30 a visit), And I won't have to pay 50% of my prescription costs. I also will be getting dental and vision.

So, what's so bad about socialism? Don't get me wrong, I am independent-minded myself and don't like anyone telling me what to do. But capitalism is the true evil, I believe. No, I don't want to live under Communism. Vanity Fair had an excellent editorial back in June. The editor asked, "Where is the outrage in America for the worse human financial disaster in history caused by a mere 100 people?"  Capitalism is on it's way out. Blame America's "downfall" on the greedy, un-patriotic capitalist pigs who have brought her down. Just read in the paper today that things are predicted by many economists to get much worse. I had honestly thought things would turn around. We are in for a real shake-down.

Thanks for giving me an opportunity to rant. This is the other side of me--a tad radical at times. I live in Portland, though, what do you expect? Former President Bush called our great city "Little Beruit."
